OMDL AD 2.20 LOCAL TRAFFIC REGULATIONS

2.20.1 Limitation on the operation of the Aerodrome.
2.20.1.1 Aerodrome is designed for Code C aircraft specification (See AD Chart). Operators are advised of the following:
  1. Circuit direction: Left hand RWY 17 and Right hand RWY 35.
    1. Jet Traffic 1500 FT
    2. Turbo-prop Traffic 1000 FT
    3. Helicopter Traffic 500 FT
  2. All traffic larger than Dash 8 or equivalent, which requires backtracking on the runway, shall use the turning circles at the end of runway.
  3. Departing traffic shall use the full runway length.
  4. Caution: Fixed wing float plane operations take place from the island harbor located at position 241552.28N 0523614.19E.
  5. Exercise extreme caution due heavy bird concentrations on and near the airport.
  6. Caution: Active military danger areas 4.5 NM to the south of Sir Baniyas.
  7. Avoid overflying palace to South West of Sir Baniyas.
2.20.1.2 Engine testing restrictions as follows:
  1. Idle engine tests permitted on Apron, at discretion of operator, with ATC coordination (between sunrise and sunset).
  2. Full power tests to be conducted on runway threshold, with ATC coordination (between sunrise and sunset).
2.20.1.3 Helicopters

Helicopters are to land/depart from main runway and taxi/hover-taxi to apron.

2.20.1.4 VFR Traffic

Refer to chart OMDL-AD-2-91 for VFR routes.

OMDL AD 2.23 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

2.23.1 Pilots to exercise caution due to an increase in seasonal bird activity at and in the vicinity of the aerodrome, especially between October and April. Bird activity increases and is more widespread around the airport after periods of prolonged wet weather. To avoid the bird activity, the opposite direction runway is available on request from the pilot.
