In the presence of Major General His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE National Service and Reserve and His Excellency Saif bin Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority, the General Civil Aviation Authority has launched the National Service training program at the GCAA Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Center in Abu Dhabi.
The program is in line with the strategic objective of the General Civil Aviation Authority of providing job opportunities for citizens wishing to work in the field of aviation for the advancement of the civil aviation sector in the UAE and in the international arena.
HE Saif bin Mohammed Al Suwaidi expressed his sincere thanks to His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Tahnoon for his generous approval of the General Civil Aviation Authority to host the National Service Program that receives great attention from the GCAA at all levels. Which in turn trains and develops cadets on appropriate functions in the aviation sector and in line with the standards applied by the General Civil Aviation Authority in Air Navigation Services and management.
The Director General also noted that once the Federal National Service Authority agreed to the request of the General Civil Aviation Authority to host the UAE National service program, it was decided to form a team of different departments to prepare, plan and follow up the selection of suitable candidates and prepare the appropriate training programs and continuous evaluation of cadets to make the best use of the program.
The initiative aims to strengthen the cadet’s relationship with the aviation industry by encouraging educational opportunities and activities that inspire young people to consider aviation and aeronautics as a further field of study.
H.E Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority, said: "We are working hard to provide support and encouragement. For the next generation of UAE nationals so that they can continue the growth of the aviation sector. Our goal is to have the UAE's best aviation system in the world. To achieve this, we need to address the increasing demand of UAE nationals in the aviation industry. The National Service program presented the perfect opportunity to reach young people who want to join the aviation sector."
Furthermore, The Director General of the GCAA displayed the history of the UAE airspace and the future of air navigation and the human and technical capabilities of the Center to deal with the active and growing air traffic demand in the United Arab Emirates.
H.H Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon took a tour of the various facilities of the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Center, where he was briefed on the progress of the operations of the center and viewed a detailed explanation of the advanced technologies in the center and the role of different sectors to ensure the safety and continuity of air traffic flow in the UAE. During his tour, H.H. also met with the trainees and urged them to make the most of the training opportunities provided by the Center so that they can perform the role assigned to them to serve our nation.
