Category : GCAA,   Date : Feb, 28 2018
The General Civil Aviation Authority held today the Aeronnovation summit, in line with the GCAA strategy that supports Innovation in the Aviation Industry of the United Arab Emirates.

The Aeronnovation Summit & Awards were held under the patronage of His Excellency Sultan Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and attended by GCAA board members, VIPs and government & private entities around the world as part of UAE Innovation Month on 28 February 2018 at Dubai World Trade Center.

His Excellency Sultan Al Mansoori said “I am pleased to note that this Innovation Award submissions are assessed utilizing a robust and multi-layered framework to ensure that the assessment process is appropriate and objective. The Summit aims to recognize and provide an opportunity for all employees of the aviation sector, members of general public, academia and business organizations in the UAE to showcase innovations they designed and implemented”.

The Director General, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi said, “Innovation plays a pivotal role in the advancement of any nation, therefore the GCAA insures that it supports and regulates important innovations in the aviation field. As the industry constantly evolves we must evolve with it and we must ensure that individuals are motivated, compliant and aware of all the needs to incorporate aviation safety, security and environmental laws to their innovations, thus creating the Aeronnovation Summit & Awards”.

The summit that include the GCAA’s “innovation in Aviation course”, “state safety risk workshop” and the “TSA USA Innovation taskforce workshop” target industry professionals and interested individuals, is free of charge.

It also includes an exhibition to provide an opportunity for all national and international organizations to showcase their latest innovations related to aviation. This open to public full day event brings together aviation professionals, corporate executives from the industry, entrepreneurs, investors and the creative minds from academia as well as the manufacturing industry to focus on the key innovation themes.

The awards presented during the summit are based on the principal that the driving force behind innovation process is people. Therefore, this scheme recognizes and provides an opportunity for professionals in the aviation sector, academia and members of the public in the UAE, to display innovations they have designed and implemented that can positively affect passengers experience, aviation safety and security standards.

The GCAA incorporates innovation in the workplace and in the industry by helping and supporting innovative ideas through many initiatives that follow the GCAA Aeronnovation strategy that was launched in 2015.

In support of the Aeronnovation strategy, the Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority has visited many initiatives and events during the UAE innovation month of February to support and have an outlook on new UAE innovations and to support innovation, including the Sharjah innovation week held last week. During his visit, he has inspected the exhibition and the GCAA booth, and looked at the participation of different individuals and organisations that are contributing to the advancement of the UAE in Aviation and other industries.
