Under the patronage of her highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, and with the attendance of Sheikha Moza bint Marwan Al Maktoum, the General Civil Aviation Authority held today the Emirati Women in Aviation forum as part of its initiatives on Emirati Women’s Day. The forum included panel discussions by international and local decision makers and women from across the industry having various specializations in aviation was open for public and industry professionals.
The discussions at the forum revolved around , Emirati women in the Aviation industry, and Women in Aviation from an International perspective.
The General Civil Aviation Authority prides itself in the percentage of Emirati women currently working in the authority. The percentage is at a robust 78% and growing.
Sheikha Moza Bint Marwan Al Maktoum, First Officer Pilot with Emirates Airlines said, “If you have the passion and love of aviation, never falter. Our country has provided us with all means of empowerment and success. We must be as responsible and confident.”
His Excellency Saif Mohammed al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA said, “There is no doubt that Emirati women have proven themselves in all fields of science and technology, including the civil aviation sector in the country, which has contributed strongly to its progress and occupies a leading position in the world.
We are proud of them all. Today, we find pilots like Her Highness Sheikha Mozah, and doctors in aviation medicine and in other technical and administrative fields in the sector. He also emphasized that the representative of the State of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Captain Aysha Al Hamli, is one of our pioneering daughters and we are proud of her achievements in establishing UAE's name on the international aviationplatform.
The GCAA has launched several initiatives and programs to attract and rehabilitate women in various fields of civil aviation and we are hoping more Emarati women come forward to make a career in the field of Aviation.
The General Civil Aviation Authority is the federal authority that manages and regulates the UAE airspace and the aviation sector in order to serve the public in a dynamic and thriving aviation environment and thrives with many initiatives to increase the number of UAE nationals in the Aviation field across the industry.
