The safety & Security section is responsible for three different disciplines which are as follows:
- Cabin Safety
- Aviation Security
- The Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air
Cabin Safety
The main objective of Cabin Safety discipline is to ensure that UAE operators as well as foreign operators comply with the stipulated safety requirements in the ICAO Annex 6 and the UAE Civil Aviation Regulations. Insurance is established through the auditing of Safety & Emergency Training Programs and continuous auditing of local and foreign operators. Further, the UAE GCAA is among few civil aviation authorities which elected to license Cabin Crew Members, in order to ensure implementation of the stipulated safety requirements for the safety of passengers in case of emergency on board aircraft.
Aviation Security
The main objective of Aviation Security disciplines is to ensure safeguarding international civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference. This indicates that all aviation operations from UAE Airports start from a secure environment. The UAE National Civil Aviation Security Program stipulates the standards to which airports, airlines and any agency involved with civil aviation operation must adhere to. To this effect, the ultimate control is the ICAO Annex 17 and UAE Civil Aviation Regulations. Frequent audits are conducted to evaluate adherence to standards and ensure quality control.
